Although there are some coral reef areas with varieties of colorful tropicals, Lembeh
is renowned for "lurkers". Ambush predators like Frogfish and a huge variety of
Scorpion and Stonefish that lay motionless at the bottom, waiting for something to
unwittingly swim past in striking range. Many of these are masters of disguise,
mimicking the colors of sponges and the local topography. Pretty much anything that
provides shelter and living quarters, ranging from Coke bottles to corals is going to
have something living in it.
